About the Artist K. L. Casper

K. L. Casper employs vibrant colors and a representational style to portray uplifting landscapes and whimsical subjects with watercolors.  Many of her paintings reflect her attraction to architectural forms and the contrasting textures of the surrounding natural environment.  Watercolors lift my spirit, offering endless spontaneity, surprise and challenge, particularly when painting from real life-- either en-plein air, travel memories, or even still life arrangements.”

Her paintings have been included in numerous juried shows throughout Vermont and New Hampshire including the Southern Vermont Art Center in Manchester, the Basin Harbor Resort in Vergennes, the Bryan Memorial Gallery in Jeffersonville, the Reed Gallery in Chester, the Folk Art Prints & Antiques Gallery in Woodstock, the Chaffee Fine Art Gallery in Rutland, the Pegasus Gallery in Quechee, the Old Red Mill in Jericho, the Union Station in Burlington; and the Red Roof and AVA Galleries in New Hampshire.  Her work has also been shown through several solo and group shows organized by the Vermont Watercolor Society, Art’s Alive, Northern Vermont Artist Association, and local community towns and businesses.

She is a signature member of the Vermont Watercolor Society, and served as Vice President and Director of Volunteers.   She was invited to participate in the Basin Harbor Resort’s Artist-in-Residence program in 2006, and the Arts Alive Festival of Fine Arts in 2005 and 2006.   Karen  is an applied anthropologist with over 20 years’ experience addressing quality of life and livelihood concerns in Bangladesh and the United States.  Artistic expression has always been an integral part of her life, but only recently has she been able to devote more attention to her watercolor obsession, benefitting greatly from the instruction, mentoring and influence of locally and nationally renowned artists.
